I am now to transmit to you despatch from Consul Gen! Prodehouse reporting, that the Treaty in question has been ratified by the King of the Sandwich Islands, & only requires the approval of the U.S. Govt.
As it appears doubtful from the concluding portion of this despatch whether the Consul Gen! has received the instructions addressed to him in Jan?, Lord Stanley proposes to find him a duplicate thereof,
but before doing so he would be glad to be informed if the Lords Trade wish to add anything to their letter of the 22nd Jan? I am to request that Consul Gen! Modehouse's despatch may be returned with answer & this letter.
